Growing up in the Philadelphia area, you’d be had pressed not to know who this guy is. [Jim Gardner](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Gardner_(broadcaster)) anchored the 6 and 11pm news on 6 ABC News for so many years. 45 years total at the station.

So many of us in the 80’s and 90’s, before cable, would watch the news anchored by non-other than Jim. He was steadfast in his delivery and a compassionate anchor.

It is the end of an era. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t shed a tear watching his sign off.

Watch it! You’ll tear up too!
