The Smithsonian Institution here in the United States just released more than [4 million images into the public domain](https://www.si.edu/openaccess).

This is huge and a major win for the internet and fair use. This follows the [WordPress Foundation’s public domain photo project “Openverse”](https://wordpress.org/openverse/) that came to life last year.

I’m loving this. Go check out the awesome images that are free to use!!!!!!!!!
