Remembering Reed

Reed at WordCamp US 2016 in Philadelphia.

Reed Gustow was a fixture in the Philadelphia tech scene. He was on the board of, the now defunct, Philadelphia New Media Association. He was a member of Indy Hall, one of the oldest co-working communities in the world (definitely in Philly). As a member of the local WordPress community, Reed helped organize the local WordCamps and the first two WordCamp US conferences (that were held at the Convention Center) in 2015-16. He was a shutterbug and a very talented photographer and touched that community greatly as well.

When I learned about Reed’s passing last week in an email from one of the communities he was part of, I was devastated. He had been quietly battling cancer and lost the battle on August 29th.

I always liked Reed and considered him friend and role model. He was always caring and always willing to give advice.

I know I’m not the only one who will miss him. So many of us were touched by him is such positive ways.

He will be missed terribly.

Rest In Peace Dear Friend.
