At the Jewish Business Network Event Today

I went to the Jewish Business Network event at Vinyl in Philly today.

Israel sits heavy on my heart, but I wanted to be with the community.

I wrapped Tefillin for the first time in my life (I’m not religious), but when the Rabbi asked me to do a Mitzvah (a good deed) and do it, I obliged.

I said the prayers as I wrapped my left arm and put it on my head.

It felt good to pray for the safety of Israel and the Israeli people.

This is not going to be a quick war. And as the casualties grow, my heart breaks.

I know the tide of support for the Jewish people and Israel will lessen as the shock of this attack wears off. Support for the Palestinians will continue to grow.

But when shit like this happens, people have to realize that real innocent people died in this attack. Many in barbaric ways. I find it hard to sympathize with the plight of a people who elected Hamas to govern, albeit 2007.

I’m not saying that Israel is right all the time, even half the time with how they co-exist with Palestinians. But after this, though I’m hopeful for peace in the region, I’m doubtful.

All I can do is pray, and did I mention I’m not religious?
