New Year… New Decade… What’s Different

It’s now 2020. Happy New Year, Happy New Decade.

Now that we’re done with the holidays, hooray, how are we going to make this new year, new decade different?

The typical resolutions are probably made. And you might already be breaking them. But setting up goals for the year to meet are different. These goals can be really attainable or pie-in-the-sky goals. Regardless they are goals that you want to aim for.

Ultimately you don’t want to stay on the hamster wheel and just start a new year/decade doing the same stuff without some self-evaluation.

What are you doing to make things different this year/decade? I’d love to hear them.

Are New Years Resolutions Worthless?

Are New Years Resolutions Worthless-li

Are New Years resolutions worthless? How many do we actually keep? We all need to work out, get more sleep, spend more time with our loved ones, save more money, etc. But how much of this do we actually do.

Instead of focusing on overarching, year-long goals, we should focus on more immediate and relatively attainable goals.

For example, I need to make sure I get on my bike trainer at least 3 times a week. I haven’t been. I thought I’d make this a New Years Resolution, but it’s too over reaching and worthless. Instead I’m going to set a goal to get on the bike at least once a week and work my way up. Before I know it it’ll be spring and riding-outside-season.

Another example, remembering to blog regularly. I can say as a New Years resolution that I’m going to blog twice a week. But it would be better if every week I looked at my schedule and decided what we realistic for that week.

What do you think of New Years Resolutions? Are they worthwhile or completely worthless?

Happy New Year!

Update: Britney Kennedy of┬ádisagrees with my assertion that New Years Resolutions are worthless. Her view is that resolutions are goals and that setting goals is a good thing to do. Yearly, monthly, weekly, daily… whenever.
