So today marked the start of my fitness training with Mark “Spark” Vandzura of GYMGUYZ of Greater Bucks. All I have to say is that I needed to do this sooner.
I have worked out with trainers in the past and had good results, so I had a feeling that working out with Spark would be great. It was.
Not only was it a good, strenuous workout, it was fun as well. I never thought working out would be much more than a just a chore. I hope this time it sticks.
On To My Pathetic Starting Stats
These are painfully dismal starting weigh in stats:
- Weight: 231.2 lbs
- Age: 35
- Height: 5’ 10.5”
- Body Fat: 29.6%
- Skeletal Muscle: 33.4%
- Visceral Fat: 15
- BMI: 32.7
- Body Age: 69
- Arms (Bicep): 14 ½”
- Chest: 42”
- Waist: 41”
- Legs (quadricep): 21” (Mostly muscle)
- Calves: 17 ¾” (Mostly muscle)
So now that I along with many of you are sufficiently depressed, let’s chat about the workout.
I went to Mark’s house, though the beauty of GYMGUYZ is that they can meet you wherever. This just happened to be the most convenient and involved the least amount of cleaning.
We started out with some simple stretches to warm up, but before I knew it I was doing all kinds of exercises that I had never done before.
The exercises if you’re curious were:
- Shoulder Press
- Lateral Kicks
- Standing Row
- Side Planks
- Jumping Jacks
- Forward Bend
- Single Leg Balance (Left & Right)
After about 30 minutes, I felt good — really good. Now I’m sore, but it’s a good type of sore.
Our goal is to work out twice a week for 30 minutes each time, until we feel like I can start doing an hour
Something I realized during my workout was that I wasn’t concerned about how stupid I looked, it was just me and Mark. He had my best interest at heart and because of that, I wasn’t self conscious and my squirrely brain stayed on task.
