The Best Photoshop Alternatives for 2019 | Webdesigner Depot

I’m partial to Photoshop, but it’s nice to see that there are options out there for people who want something different.

I’ve used GIMP and it’s halfway decent. Also there is another one that isn’t listed called Lunacy which is a Sketch clone/competitor.

What graphics/photo editing software do you use?

For many designers, Photoshop is the number one tool for editing images, but for many other designers, Photoshop is an expensive, bloated, and inefficient tool.

Are You A Zero

A good friend and business colleague of mine Chuck Hall published a great post today on LinkedIn about how every new year is a fresh start. We all start at zero. It’s definitely worth a read.

On the first business day of the new year, one of my more experienced colleagues walked into the office and stopped near a group of us young guys and declared: “Today we are all the same. We are all zeros. But tomorrow, I will be ahead of you because I am better than you.”

How Much of the Internet Is Fake?

How much of the internet is fake? Studies generally suggest that, year after year, less than 60 percent of web traffic is human; some years, according to some researchers, a healthy majority of it is bot. For a period of time in 2013, the Times reported this year, a full half of YouTube traffic was “bots masquerading as people,” a portion so high that employees feared an inflection point after which YouTube’s systems for detecting fraudulent traffic would begin to regard bot traffic as real and human traffic as fake. They called this hypothetical event “the Inversion.”

To be honest this article, regardless of how cynical it sounds, isn’t off at all. It is next to impossible to track users online.

Interesting post from Convince and Convert about how top hospitals use Social Media. It’s got to be interesting to stay HIPPA compliant yet relevant on Social Media. Here’s an interesting fact from the post.

Twitter is a high-priority channel for the nation’s top hospitals. Most tweet an average of three times per day, and the best-performing hospital Twitter accounts often post much more.

The Cult of the Complex

I agree with the wise Jeffrey Zeldman to a point.

But I think there is a time and place for Divs as there is a time and place for Tables.

Also frameworks tend to make the development of Websites/pages easier. Though sometimes doing a site from scratch without them is best.

What do you think?
